Welcome to the Považské Museum website.
The museum’s main interest is the cultural heritage of the Žilina Region. As the only museum of its kind in existence, it houses a unique display of tinker art and deals with several fields of science; the history of transport in Slovakia, geology, botany, zoology, archaeology and ethnology. At present the museum houses almost 140 000 artefacts and is carrying out a number of different research. It also oversees the maintenance of other historical sights in Žilina, Strečno, Bytca, Terchova and Čičmany.
